Our extensive jutsu list, at least at first glance, may seem either very elaborate or very confusing. To assist users with using our jutsu list, we have written up a basic guide regarding the jutsus listed here. For learning jutsus, be sure to refer to the Character System page.

The first point to have outlined are the classifications: academy jutsus are jutsus that all characters start with (they may seem simple or useless, but they are extremely important, do not pass them up), ninjutsu is the most general category of abilities including using the elements and defending or attacking, genjutsu are abilities designed to deceive an opponent's senses, taijutsu includes abilities oriented around hand-to-hand and melee combat, kekkei genkai are bloodline abilities and traits.

Jutsus are then classified within these pages by a number color codings:

Jutsu in this color are Exclusive Jutsu. (These have very specific requirements regarding how they are learned)
Jutsu in this color are Clan Jutsu. (You must be a member of the clan to learn it)
Jutsu in this color are Medic Jutsu.
Jutsu in this color are Banned Jutsu.

Jutsus are listed only once where they fit most appropriately. If you do not see the jutsu you're looking for under a general category, it is either a Kekkei Genkai doujutsu or labeled as "kinjutsu." Additionally, we have only classified the most major Kekkei Genkai by individual clans. Random movie clans or clans that appeared with single, less developed characters will not be separated as Kekkei Genkai.

When selecting Jutsu, make sure you meet the requirements first. We won't always list them, but often, they are obvious. A few examples are:

You can't learn any summoning skill without first knowing Kuchiyose no Jutsu
You can't perform any technique that requires you perform an unlearned one, such as performing Shuriken Shadow Clone when you don't know Shadow Clone.
Physical bunshins, whether Kage Bunshin, Mizu Bunshin, etc. are extremely chakra intensive techniques. People should keep in mind that because Naruto uses them rather freely and in large numbers, there are very few, even high-ranked ninja, who can use bunshins as he can. Most people will only be able to make one or two physical bunshins and expect to have a reasonable amount of chakra left.
Forbidden and Exclusive Jutsu can be learned, but only through Roleplay. You cannot NPC a Sensei to learn them. Some have requirements, such as Kakuzu's techniques, which require you to kill a player character and remove their heart to gain that elemental affininity (assuming you have the jutsu to do so); the same holds true for Sasori's techniques.
Private message either Kaneda or Dattebayo before adding an ability you've earned to your sheet. If you have any questions, it's better to ask than get called out on it later.

It should also be noted that in many cases, jutsus have been tweaked here and there for use on this board. In most cases, we simply add a note clarifying how the ability is used. In other instances we have toned down the ability to make it more reasonable and logical in combat, to avoid problems when battles arise. This includes the handseal notes. In some cases there are discrepencies between the manga and anime, in other cases it may or may not show the handseals used. To compensate we've included a number of handseals, not specifics about the handseals themselves. These are to give you a time frame that is requires to cast many of these abilities.

The most important note to be made about jutsus is that jutsus are more like tools for your character to use. Ultimately, battles will boil down to melee combat more than anything else with jutsus as a weapon to enhance performance or assist briefly in combat. With a few exceptions, they should very rarely be the battle-winning tool. You're free to use them as you see fit, just be mature and reasonable about it.

Important note about combat! It is important to point out that Naruto combat involves a bit of deception. Concealing your actions so that your enemy has trouble predicting what you are about to do, and we embrace this idea. However, ALL jutsus must have preparation in your posts. You can't simply say you performed a jutsu before entering. You're welcome to but you MUST post using some sort of set of handseals or whatever prep the jutsu uses before entering. The opponent will not necessarily be aware what the jutsu is, so you do not necessarily need to elaborate in great detail beyond the handseals.

Keep in mind, however, for you to conceal the effect of a jutsu, it must be justifiable. If the opponent is watching you while you do it, then naturally it won't work out. Additionally, keep in mind that fighting Uchiha and Hyuuga will limit how easy it is to conceal actions like that.

Elemental affinities involve a process of learning that each character must go through. You may select two elements at the creation of your for release. You will only be permitted to achieve a total of 4 of the 6 elements with very few exceptions. Please keep that in mind. The elements that may be released upon creation are:

Fire.
Water.
Lightning.
Earth (includes sand techniques).
Sound (added for sake of limitation).
Wind.

Combinations of elements, for instance the advanced and rare elements of ice and wood, first require a mastery classification in their subsequent elements. This means that your character must learn 50% of the jutsus for each of its defining elements (wind and water for ice, earth and water for wood). Once mastery has been achieved, the individual must then train an "S" ranked skill for manipulating ice. Manipulation of wood will be considerably more limited and in the one or two cases where characters are approved to learn wood, wood release will involve training of an "SS" ranked jutsu.

If you intend to train ice or wood, be sure to contact an administrator before doing so (Kaneda or Λkibane).

Elements also fit in as strengths and weaknesses a bit oddly in a few instances. So above we have a diagram.

Chakra usage We have also added a chakra consumption note: low means that the ability could be performed very easily, many times in succession, with little substantial effect on the user; mid means that the ability is not very taxing on the ninja, the jutsu can be used a handful of time before substantial effect is felt; high means that this ability is commonly only used between one and three times per battle before chakra supply is greatly effected; massive means that this ability is reserved for a very special few ninja with rather impressive chakra supplies, and even their use of it is limited— these abilities will consume almost all of your full source of chakra.

Channeling chakra into a weapon Channeling chakra into a weapon will always strengthen the force behind the weapon. That said, you can choose specific attributes into weapons unique to a variety of elements as well. Charging raiton chakra into your weapon will not cause it to electrocute targets. Just like suiton chakra won't drown an enemy when you cut them. More specific effects relative to the elements like that are jutsu. Simple chakra channeling is more of a simple, universal technique with specific effects that I've listed below.

Doton strengthens the force behind an attack. It effectively increases the mass of the weapon, making it harder to break or push back.
Fuuton increases the cutting strength of a weapon. Overall the weapon itself stays pretty much the same, but the edge will have a greater capacity to pierce things it strikes.
Katon increases the cutting strength of a weapon. Overall the weapon itself stays pretty much the same, but the edge will have a greater capacity to pierce things it strikes.
Raiton increases the cutting strength of a weapon. Overall the weapon itself stays pretty much the same, but the edge will have a greater capacity to pierce things it strikes.
Suiton strengthens the force behind an attack. It effectively increases the mass of the weapon, making it harder to break or push back.
Oto strengthens the force behind an attack. It effectively increases the mass of the weapon, making it harder to break or push back.

Keep in mind that charging an element into a weapon increases its weakness to its opposing natures. So, for example, Raiton would have a very high probably of destroying a weapon charged with Doton.
