 Ninken are any dogs that have a decent chakra supply, and thus are able to work with ninja. Some, such as Pakkun and Kuromaru, can talk. Although the dogs belonging to the members of the Inuzuka clan are ninken, the phrase is usually used in reference to the pack of eight ninken summoned by Kakashi Hatake. Kakashi's ninken have shown the ability to walk on water. Kakashi summons his ninken mostly for tracking purposes. He can summon them separately, as he commonly does so with Pakkun, or all together. He can also summon them for special purposes, like he does with his Summoning Technique: Earth Release: Tracking Fang Technique. With this technique, the dogs can travel through the ground following the scent of their target, emerging when the target is found and holding them in place.

Entourage; This entourage of monkeys each have a variety of unique abilities that they can use in combat. While no single summon packs a terribly huge punch, when functioning as a team, they can provide rather effective support in battle. The abilities they support are fire (black & the group leader; uses endan), earth (red, creates walls of mud), lightning (blue, fires small bolts of electricity), healing (light blue, heals minor wounds of the individual it is in contact with), taijutsu (green, hand to hand combat), and a projectile weapon specialist (yellow).
Each monkey has a particular weakness that will defeat it rather quickly. The elemental monkeys are subject to their opposing element. The medic monkey is weak to just about everything. The weapon specialist is weak to physical attacks, the taijutsu specialist is weak to elemental attacks. The monkeys share a pool of stamina. Defeat one, and all of the monkeys will disperse. If struck with their weakness, the monkeys are instantly removed from combat.

This ability to manipulate allows him to bind and hold the opponents he faces.

Sanjuu Rashoumon is a Ninjutsu summoning technique utilized by Orochimaru. One Rashoumon gate alone was said to be his ultimate defense, with this variation he can summon three of the gates in succession to help block a great incoming blast. Because the gate requires two summoning calls (a right and left), he will bite both his right and left thumbs to initiate the contract.
The gates are not invincible however, being dented by the Soutourou of Kiba and Akamaru, and totally destroyed by Naruto into his four-tailed Kyuubi form. The latter gates do manage to deflect the majority of Naruto's blast though, which could have killed Orochimaru had it not be deflected.

 This animal is the personal summon of the Sand ninja Temari. To summon the creature, Temari wipes blood on her fan and then does her Kirkirimai (Whirl) technique. After she swings her fan the itachi (weasel) is summoned with a huge scythe as well as several other small kama (sickles). The result is a huge swath of destruction. Other than Naruto, Temari is the only Genin so far who has been shown to possess the needed chakra to summon a creature.
